My passion: Health and natural healing

We all want to look and feel our best, but how do we do that? Sometimes we make it a little more complicated than it has to be. There is so much information and misinformation out there, it can be confusing. My hope is to help as many people as I can to start down a path of feeling and looking their best.

Natural health and healing has been a passion of mine that started when I was a teen. Being without many health problems, I hadn’t learned much, yet. My passion and knowledge has grown since getting pregnant with my first child in August of 2004. Being pregnant and having children caused me to become much more aware of health both good and bad, the physical and spiritual aspects, treatment of illness, prevention of illness, things that occur to us naturally, and accidents that cause damage to our bodies and require a physician’s treatment.

Almost every day I read, study, ask, and answer questions about health related issues. I love to learn and to share what I have learned and I am fascinated by the way God designed our bodies to function. If cut, we heal over. If broken, we mend. With a little knowledge and the right care, our bodies can function properly and feel better than we thought possible.

Complex as our bodies are, there exist many basics that anyone can apply to caring for both body and mind. It is amazing to see how wellness all comes together, yet you can study all your life and never really figure out all there is to it. Even the best doctors are just now finding out what purpose certain organs can serve.

Being a Christian, I consider that our bodies are God-made when it comes to health — even what the Bible says about what we are to eat. When you think about how we were made (from the dust of the earth) and where the plants grow (in the dirt of the earth), you can easily see what things our bodies need most to function the way God intended.

I recently decided to start selling products from Beeyoutiful.com. I have been using them for many years through two pregnancies. I have given some products away as gifts and placed orders for other family members. The owners of Beeyoutiful are Christian, which is important to me, and the products are all natural.

Even though I still have yet to find a company that supplies every single supplement need of mine, Beeyoutiful has managed to supply most. I believe in their products and use them for myself, my husband, and children. I will be honest about what works and what doesn’t. I am here to help and that is my main focus. Because of that, you will find at times I recommend something from other companies. I want to help people, not just sell this one product line.

I hope you will enjoy my little newsletter and that it will bless you in some way. I want to share what I have learned about the human body, supplements, illness, prevention, healing, exercise, and maybe even some recipes. I also look forward to providing the means for you to buy some great products that will help you be healthier and direct you to anywhere else that will meet your needs. This is a blessing for me to be able to share with you. So, let’s get back to basics together.

Can’t I just buy my vitamins at the local chain retail store?
You can, but more than likely your body will not absorb most of them. I was recently asked what multi-vitamin to take. That is a great question and a great place to start. Multi-vitamins seem to be a dime a dozen these days and that is about all most of them are worth nutritionally. There are some good ones out there, but they are fewer and farther between. Ideally we would get all of what our bodies need from the foods we eat. The world has changed a lot since the flood. Soil and food aren’t what they used to be. My mother recently noted a big difference in the color of the organic herbs from a health food store compared to the jars at the local grocery. The organic versions were a richer green. Quality isn’t always available when our bodies need it — and they always need it.

This is one of the many reasons why our bodies need a good, natural multi-vitamin and mineral supplement. It should be plant based and not synthetic. I don’t know about you, but I want to feed my body — which was made from the dust of the Earth — with what God caused to grow on the earth, as opposed to something created in a laboratory to save money. My body is God-made, so my food should be God-made. Sadly, when life gets busy, a lot of my food ends up being the overly processed versions that come in boxes.

I have been taking Supermom vitamins from Beeyoutiful for many years now, even through two pregnancies as they are a wonderful prenatal.* A multivitamin of this nature is a great place to start and has some actual food ingredients. Superfoods like alfalfa, spirulina, and barley juice are included. There are many kinds of minerals, enzymes, amino acids, fats, and vitamins; all of which our bodies need on a daily basis. Our bodies can make some of them, but others we have to get from food. This is where supplements come in. A good multi-vitamin is a simple first step to health and well being.

Free radicals threaten our cells every day, speeding up the aging process and making us tired and more prone to illness. Many of the ingredients in the Super line of vitamins have a cleansing effect on the body and are rich in anti-oxidants that help fight these free radicals. Aloe capsules also are available for adults if you would like to experience even more benefit from your Supermom or Superdad vitamins. Aloe helps combat yeast, keeps the toxins moving out of your body, promotes healing, is anti-inflammatory, and increases the bioavailability of the vitamins from everything you ingest. It has even been suggested that aloe, when ingested, can help fight the symptoms of the flu.

Don’t forget the little ones, either. Kids need vitamins, too. They are growing so fast and their bodies need to keep up. I recently gave my toddler a very small amount of the Super Kids liquid vitamin and, her still being in diapers, let’s just say I noticed a difference. The children’s version contains aloe, which is wonderful for the intestines.

And of course Superkids is all-natural and sugar free. It is sweetened with Xylitol, a wonderful tasting natural sweetener that helps prevent cavities. For children who can’t swallow a pill, the liquid is a good choice. Some people may wonder why men need one version, women another, and kid’s yet another when each supplement has the same ingredients in them. We are all made basically the same, right? While it is true we all need the same things to grow and thrive, our specific needs can vary depending on our stress level, size, what we are eating, etc. Everyone needs a good base to start with and that is why multi-vitamins are so popular.

While there may be some of the same types of vitamins included, the amounts of each can vary. Same goes for the men’s and women’s formulas. While women can take the men’s and vice versa, there are some differences in the two. For example, there is iron in the women’s formula as women are more prone to iron deficiency.

There are many other products that can be used in addition to your main supplement. Beeyoutiful’s Bee Strong** bee pollen supplement contains just about everything your body needs and could be taken as your main multivitamin. Alfalfa (not available at Beeyoutiful***), liquid chlorophyll, and Spirulina also are good nutritional supplements, to name a few. What I like about the Super versions is they have a little of almost everything — even green tea extract. The natural enzymes in the food ingredients make it easily absorbed by your body. It is a great basic to start with that can be taken every day and depended on by most people as their main supplement to help make a strong body that can withstand the stresses of life.

*If using Supermom as a prenatal please also take extra calcium and iron. I use Bon Ami and liquid Chlorophyll.
**Do not use if you are allergic to bee products.

The best way to becoming independent with your health is to learn, learn, learn. Everyone depends on others to grow, manufacture, or package their healing products, but learning about the world of natural healing itself still is important. The following information can give you a good sense of how the products you buy work and can help you to choose the right herb, tincture, salve, or poultice when it comes time to treat an ailment.

Herbal tea is a very easy, accessible way for anybody to get the medicinal qualities of an herb. It's quicker than preparing a tincture, yet water still does a very good job at drawing out the herb's compounds. Best of all, pretty much any herb can be used to make tea and the learning process is great for beginners. No special equipment is required. With just a pot, cup, and strainer, beginner herbalists can be on their way to learning and experiencing the amazing qualities of God's gardens.
